PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

After his military service, CFOVet CEO Winston Church attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville.  He completed his BS degree in Accounting in three years and graduated with Distinction in Accounting in May 1990.  He passed all four parts of the Uniform CPA Exam at his first sitting.

Winston started his accounting career with the firm of Crisp Hughes & Company in Asheville, NC.  Crisp Hughes & Company, now known as Dixon Hughes Goodman (DHG), is one of the top 20 firms in the country.  Winston received a healthy balance of both tax and audit.  He then worked for a smaller firm before leaving public accounting.

After public accounting and for the next 27 years, Winston has held several management positions in numerous industries.  He was the Controller with a small transportation company.  He was the VP Corporate Controller for a 7,000-employee $500M furniture manufacturer.  He was the Controller for a $200M division of a $3B aerospace and defense federal contractor.  He held a position for a short time with a government-owned contractor-operated explosives manufacturer.  And for about the last seven years, he has served as the CFO for a privately-owned consumer packaging company.
